Skip the Beige: The Most Colorful Airbnbs in the U.S.

Colorful Airbnbs Across the US
Updated August 17, 2025

As an introverted extrovert, I love a good recharge window baked into my travels. New place, new snacks, new neighborhood to wander, but also a cozy corner to hide in when my social battery starts blinking red. The only catch is that beige-on-beige spaces do absolutely nothing for the soul.

Sometimes the destination is great, but the real mood boost is the place you stay. Enter the colorful Airbnb: bold walls, playful tile, unexpected wallpaper, and design choices that say “yes, this seemed like a good idea at the time” in the best possible way. It’s like a mini vacation for your eyeballs.

There’s also something oddly satisfying about test-driving a wild color palette for a few days. Not ready to commit to a mustard sofa or a teal bathroom at home? Stay with one first. No paint rollers required.

Research shows that even planning a trip can lift your mood, and picking a stay with personality just doubles the fun. From the East Coast to the West Coast, here are my favorite colorful Airbnbs.

Savannah, GA

Savannah, GA has so many colorful Airbnbs, choosing just one felt nearly impossible.

This charming carriage house sits behind the main home and has everything you need for a relaxed getaway. The kitchen includes the essentials, plus coffee and tea for easy mornings. The cozy sofa converts into a twin bed and includes a second twin trundle underneath. The bedroom sits upstairs, just beyond the spiral staircase.

Sink into a retro coral armchair inside the vibrant teal living room of this character-filled stay near Jones Street. Relax on the porch in a mint chair, then drift off beneath the dreamy woodland mural.

The Airbnb is tucked away in the historic district, within easy walking distance of downtown restaurants, attractions, and the river. Stroll through town or rent a bike to explore the city in classic Southern weather. We are walking distance to the famous Forsyth Park and River Street!

Louisville, KY

With streaming light and soaring ceilings, this renovated antebellum church showcases a stunning collection of eclectic pieces. Sit in the hanging chair near intriguing artwork, admire bold feature walls, and unwind in the sunny courtyard.

Visit the Holy Goat Guest House for a close-up taste of historic Louisville architecture and artifacts. This soulful renovation of a 175-year-old building includes four private suites.
Expect inspired design touches and warm hospitality that feel both comforting and completely one of a kind.

Located in NuLu, this renovated church is thoughtfully designed and filled with creative, inspiring details. It includes everything you need for a comfortable stay, including kid-friendly conveniences.

Food lovers will appreciate the neighborhood’s lineup of standout local spots.
Within two blocks are Harvest & Toast, Garage Bar, Goodwood, and Royals Hot Chicken.

Palm Springs, CA

This colorful Airbnb is a maximalist home owned by interior designer Dani Dazey, creator of the Trixie Motel. This midcentury gem sits tucked at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains.
Designed by famed architect William Krisel, it features his signature butterfly roofline. Soak in the orange hot tub and enjoy the expertly layered interiors. It’s perfect for desert foliage views with downtown Palm Springs just five minutes away.

This is a historic, charming home, not a polished five-star hotel experience. Built in 1959 by noted designer William Krisel, it remains a true vintage time capsule. The space is carefully preserved while updated with quality floors, appliances, cabinetry, and furnishings. Kitchen appliances are European-style and may feel unfamiliar at first. Reach out to the hosts anytime if you need help using them.

Westbrook, ME

Marked by a lime green door, this Westbrook, Maine Airbnb defines colorful minimalism. Furnishings stay neutral, while the overall space brings bold, joyful color. Unlike many colorful Airbnbs, this one includes a pool. Poolside lounging with a local Portland beer makes an ideal late summer weekend plan.

The apartment sits on the first floor with two entrances, each with five steps. Inside, you’ll find original artwork and colorful carpets throughout the space. The back door opens to your private deck and direct pool access.

New Orleans, LA

Quiet outside, this bohemian loft near Magazine Street bursts with color and pattern inside. Expect colorful rugs, geometric wallpaper, and intricate mosaic bathroom tiles. Exposed brick walls and high ceilings keep the space bright and airy. The turquoise cabinets and copper hood could inspire your next kitchen redesign. Pair that tilework with a rain shower and the dream bathroom is complete.

Scottsdale, AZ

Welcome to The PINK CACTUS, where you’re free to be a little bit prickly, but always fabulous! Located in sunny South Scottsdale. This four bedroom gram-worthy gem is tucked away on a quiet Scottsdale street, a quick 5 minute uber into the bustling Old Town Scottsdale scene, Mill Ave., and ASU!

Sip your morning coffee (or mimosa) draped in a comfy lounge chair in the spacious yard, or mounted on a float in the pool. Get lit by the fire-pit, throw some tasty meat on the BBQ, toss a few bags on the pristine turf, or slap some balls at the ping pong table. IG-worthy gram your jam? The colorful murals, custom graphic patio pattern and dreamy Palm Springs décor are just the backdrop to showcase YOU! Stream your favorite shows on Hulu and Netflix (smart TVs inside and out). Get primped and pampered at the beauty bar, then head out to Old Town to let everyone enjoy your beauty!

Located in a prime area of Scottsdale (tons of great restaurants, bars, hiking, and shopping) close to the 101 freeway, Talking Stick Resort/Casino, and just minutes away from the airport, ASU, and Mill Ave.

San Francisco, CA

So many colorful Airbnbs in San Francisco; add in chowder, chocolate, and hills to work off all that food! Not meeting my typical definition of colorful, but this beautifully decorated black and gray space is unique among the colorful AirBnBs.

This bohemian space has been seen hosting techies doing hard hours downtown; party people here for the festivals; and small families who need space and harmony. You can reach the fun of downtown from here easily; but can come home & rest peacefully undisturbed by drama.

Owners live upstairs and can give tips, help with local knowledge, if needed, but consider this your own private floor, where you’ll be undisturbed.
Yard will be shared with owners & owners’ puppy.

South West Bernal Heights is a chill neighborhood away from the full party zones of downtown. This neighborhood is definitely a local feel, it’s quieter & more residential than the downtown areas. It’s walking distance to great cafes and near the fun neighborhoods of Bernal, Mission, Castro, and La Lingua (Mission / Castro about 12 mins by Uber), & you’ll need to Uber or BART (that’s a subway) to the busiest parts of town.

Austin, TX

Welcome to your East Austin escape — a colorful 3BR/1.5BA bungalow that embodies everything “Keep Austin Weird” stands for: vibrant design, great food, and laid-back good times.

Step into a space bursting with personality and comfort. Every bedroom has a plush king bed with luxe 680-thread-count sheets. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, two TVs, and thoughtful touches that make you feel right at home.

Your private backyard oasis is ready for both play and chill. Enjoy a soak in the year-round hot tub, stream your favorite show from the outdoor TV, fire up the grill, or challenge your crew to cornhole and putt-putt. When the sun sets, light the firepit and let the night unfold.

Whether it’s a weekend with friends, a couple’s getaway, or a low-key staycation, this space brings together comfort, creativity, and community — right in the heart of East Austin.
